JCCP sends out Call for Papers for First Research Symposium on Chiropractic Pediatrics
The Journal of Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics has issued a Call for Papers for presentation at the First Chiropractic Pediatrics Research Symposium to be held in conjunction with the Conference on Chiropractic Pediatrics, April 18-20 in the Gold Coast, Australia. The Conference and Symposium, presented by the ICA Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics is co-sponsored by the Chiropractors’ Association of Australia and the New Zealand College of Chiropractic. The deadline for abstract submissions is December 31, 2007.
According to the Council, evidence based medicine (EBM) is in its infancy in pediatric care. This is because the adult population is easier to study and more expensive to treat. Changes are underway and today EVM is the expectation rather than the exception in pediatric practice of any discipline…medical alternative or chiropractic. To keep up with this trend, it is important for chiropractic as a profession to foster, promote and evaluate research which will help doctors to better serve their pediatric patients.
To this end the Pediatrics Council, with the assistance of the Research Departments of Macquarie University (Australia) and New Zealand College of Chiropractic is presenting a research symposium to showcase the best current pediatric research in chiropractic. Papers for presentation will be selected with the goal of creating a baseline of current and recent research and to identify critical new research into conservative pediatric care.
The Research Committee includes Joan Fallon, DC, FICCP, MSc, Editor, JCCP (USA); Henry Pollard, GradDipChiro, PhD, Director of Research, Dept of Health and Chiropractic, Macquarie University; (Australia); Heidi Haavik-Taylor, BSc(Chiro), PGDip(Science), Director of Research, New Zealand College of Chiropractic (New Zealand); and Joyce Miller, DC, FACO (US), FCC(UK), University of Bournemouth (United Kingdom).
