Excellent Education,Camaraderie and Island Magic Highlight First Joint ICA/ACA Pediatrics Conference

More than 200 doctors from across the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia, gathered recently at the Turtle Bay Resort in Honolulu, Hawaii, for the first joint conference of the ICA and ACA Pediatric Councils.  It was three days of learning, sharing, networking and having fun amid beautiful surrounding in one of the most exotic islands in the world.

The education program, according to attendees was "extraordinary."  Speakers also enjoyed the positive response they received to their lectures and were more than willing to answer their many questions after their sessions.  "The conference more than exceeded my expectations," said one doctor from Quebec. "I am looking forward to the next one."

The speakers included Dr. Bill Moreau, Dr. Robert Melillo, Dr. Sharon Vallone, Dr. Joyce Miller, Dr. Dan Murphy, Dr. Ian McLean, Dr. Elise Hewitt, Dr. Peter Fysh and Dr. Lia Nightingale.

Selected research papers, both platform and poster were also presented by Diplomates in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics (DICCPs) from the US and Australia.  A unique feature of the research papers was the authors were paired with a mentor from the Palmer College Research Department after selection so their papers went through a revision process before presentation. The authors and mentors of the two best papers (selected by blind review) were presented with cash awards of $500 and $250 each.  Funds for the awards were donated by ChiroSecure, ICA's malpractice insurance company.  All papers presented will be published in the Journal of Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics.

Both Dr. Lora Tanis, chair of the ICA Pediatrics Council and Dr. Elise Hewitt, president of the ACA Pediatrics Council were pleased with the outcome of this first joint ventrue and look forward to continuing to advance excellence in pediatric education for the benefit of doctors of chiropractic and the little patients they serve.
